Opening its doors in March 2025 right next to Yardbird on Wing Lok Street in Hong Kong's dynamic Sheung Wan district, ALWAYS JOY is a seasonal Japanese diner that embraces an ever-changing menu philosophy. Owned and operated by Chef Matt Abergel and Lindsay Jang, ALWAYS JOY is a neighborhood restaurant that combines contemporary Japanese cuisine with confident Cantonese influences in a fun and relaxed environment. This welcoming neighborhood spot offers more space, fresh energy, and a new perspective on Japanese dining in Hong Kong. The restaurant features thoughtfully prepared sharing plates, signature sashimi, and ice-cold highballs, embodying the philosophy that good food is served by good people in a comfortable setting.
RESERVATIONS
We accept reservations up to 14 days in advance. They can be made HERE.
Our space features both counter and table seating. When you make a reservation, you may be seated at either the counter or a table—
we do not offer the option to select or guarantee seating type.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, UnionPay, PayMe, and Alipay.
SERVICE CHARGE
A 12% service charge will be added.
DESSERT
Guests are welcome to bring in a dessert with no cutting charge.
VEGETARIAN + GLUTEN-FREE OPTIONS
Our menu features a variety of vegetarian dishes and some dishes can be made gluten-free. Please let us know of any allergies or special dietary restrictions.
CORKAGE FEE
$500 HKD per 750ml bottle of wine or sake. Outside spirits are not accepted.
